RAISE Suite Brings Machine-Actionable DMPs to OpenAIRE’s Train-the-Trainers Bootcamp

RAISE Suite took part in OpenAIRE’s FAIR Research Data Management (RDM) Train-the-Trainers Bootcamp for Data Stewards, held online from 26 to 29 October 2026. Over four days, the Bootcamp brought together data stewards, librarians, repository managers and research support professionals.

On Day 1, dedicated to Planning & Data Collection, our  Project Coordinator Evdokimos Konstantinidis (Medical Physics and Digital Innovation Lab, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, AUTH) led a 60-minute hands-on session with OpenAIRE: “DMP & Data-Preparation Trainer Clinic: ARGOS in Practice (Part B).”

The session tackled a challenge every data steward knows: the gap between what a Data Management Plan promises and what happens once data collection begins. Participants saw how a DMP created in ARGOS can become a machine-actionable DMP (maDMP) with its own persistent identifier. Every stage of the data journey can then read and apply that plan automatically, from sensors and apps to storage and sharing.

The session also went beyond slides. Participants signed up to the live RAISE Portal, linked their ORCID, and ran a code-reuse experiment themselves. Along the way they experienced data visiting: the analysis travels to the data, while data owners stay in control.

Evdokimos Konstantinidis also presented how this approach is being tested in RAISE Suite’s five pilots:

He also introduced the project’s open call: 8 vouchers of €10,000 for researchers and technology providers who want to integrate the RAISE Suite SDK into their own data collection instruments.

The Bootcamp follows a Train-the-Trainers approach, so the session’s impact reaches beyond the participants. The data stewards who attended will carry these practices to research teams across their institutions.
